Pfizer jab 'probably' linked to heart condition in small number of cases - Cambridgeshire Live

Experts have discovered a new link between the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine and a heart condition.

The jab is 'probably' linked to a swelling of the heart in a tiny number of cases, according to Israeli health officials.

But they stressed there had been just 148 cases of this out of around five million doses, so the risk from the virus far outweighs any concerns associated with the jab.

The condition is myocarditis, which causes inflammation of the heart, Birmingham Live reports.

The five common signs to look out for are:

  1. Chest pain that feeling like stabbing or tightness
  2. Rapid or abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) that feel like palpitations
  3. Shortness of breath, at rest or during physical activity
  4. Fluid retention with swelling of your legs, ankles and feet
  5. Flu-like symptoms such as fatigue

The Israeli scientists wrote in their report on the cases: "There is a probable link between receiving the second dose [of Pfizer] vaccine and the appearance of myocarditis among men aged 16 to 30."
