Asda, Morrisons, Lidl, Iceland and others urgently recall products - Hull Daily Mail

A large number of products have been recalled by retailers as they were warned over those which posed allergy risks or even the chance of food poisoning.

The UK's Food Standards Agency - which oversees recalls - issued a string of product recalls, the Mirror reports. Chains including Boots, Waitrose, Aldi and Lidl issued warnings for items ranging from multivitamins to pasta and frozen chicken.

When a product is recalled, for any reason, the Food Standards Agency shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item, as well as detailed information on why the product is being pulled from shelves.

It said anyone with any of the items should visit their nearest supermarket or high street outlet for a full refund or exchange. Here are the latest product recalls.

Boots has recalled packs of multivitamin supplements because they have been incorrectly packed with multivitamins containing iron instead of Vitamin K.

Iron is not included on the label which means the product could post a possible health risk to individuals who may also be consuming iron supplements in addition to these multivitamins.

Excess supplemental iron can result in gastrointestinal effects such as pain, discomfort, constipation or nausea and vomiting.

The recall affects multivitamins sold between 12 and 19 January 2021 only. Pack size: 180 tablets. Batch code: 1805 and 1806. Expires: November 2022

Lidl is recalling packs of Birchwood XXL Pork Mince after an investigation found traces of plastic in a recent batch.

It said the possible presence of plastic makes the product hazardous to eat.

The packs come in 1kg sizes.

Asda, Morrisons and Iceland

Asda, Morrisons and Iceland have issued recalls on Milkybar yogurt packs dated February 13 and 14.

The Food Safety Authority said: "As a precautionary measure, Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy UK is voluntarily recalling the above product with the specific use by date 13/02 and 14/02 due to a strong unpleasant salty taste caused by an ingredient which is part of the normal composition but that has been overdosed in the production of these batches.

"There is no food safety risk but impact on taste can be unpleasant to consumers."

Waitrose

Waitrose is recalling packs of Patisserie Carrot Cake Muffins because they contains nuts - an ingredient it failed to mention on the label due to a manufacturing error.

The cakes contain walnuts, posing a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts.

Customers are advised to return all packs to their nearest Waitrose store for a full refund.

Marks & Spencer

Pasta Evangelists is recalling its packs of Fresh Basil Pesto at Marks & Spencer because of traces of nuts which are not mentioned on the label.

The grocer said some jars contain pistachio pesto not basil pesto.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts.
