Coronavirus: Rapid testing schemes are being rolled out in 66 areas - find out if yours is on the list - Sky News

Rapid testing schemes are being piloted in more than 60 local authorities across England in a bid to curb coronavirus infections.

Last week, Liverpool became the first part of the country to offer rapid testing for all citizens, including those who do not have COVID-19 symptoms.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed this morning that more tests are being offered to 66 local authorities, telling Sky News he had written to the directors of public health of all local authorities in England.

It is expected that more local authorities will soon sign up, including those across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

An initial 600,000 lateral flow tests - which have a turnaround time of under an hour - are being issued to local authorities this week.

Each will receive 10,000 tests to help them start testing priority groups, before they are given weekly allocations to be able to test 10% of their local population.
