German fighter jet contract worth €1bn to BAE - The Times

BAE Systems is to announce an inflow of at least €1 billion from the recent Luftwaffe order for 38 Eurofighter Typhoon jets.

The German government order worth about €5.4 billion was announced last week and the details of the workshare contracts are to be revealed imminently.

The aircraft for the German air force will be assembled and the systems integrated at Airbus’s facilities in Manching near Munich. However, significant parts of the planes will be manufactured at BAE’s Typhoon plant at Warton in Lancashire.

BAE, Britain’s largest defence group, is part of the Eurofighter consortium, which also comprises Airbus, the Franco-German aerospace group, and Leonardo, the Italian company formerly known as Finmeccanica.
