Latest e-scooter turns itself off the second riders leave the road - The Times

Electric scooters will be deactivated as soon as they mount the pavement to help stop antisocial behaviour.

E-scooters that use sensors to cut off power when entering prohibited zones such as footpaths and shopping centres have been approved for use in Britain.

The technology will disable the scooter within a second of leaving a road, cycle lane or private land where devices are legally allowed.

Link, an American e-scooter provider, has announced plans to introduce the system in Britain. It is bidding to rent out scooters through two schemes initially, one in London and one covering Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
