Much loved restaurant branches across the country are preparing to shut their doors as high street dining parent company Casual Dining Group plunges into administration with the loss of 1,909 jobs.
The curtain will fall on Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas branches as administrators begin the process of selling off assets controlled by the London firm, formerly Tragus Group.
And tonight it's been revealed that in our region Bella Italia will pull out of Plymouth in a devastating blow to the hospitality trade.
Whilst Exeter Princesshay will also wave goodbye to its Cafe Rouge.
'Multiple offers' are said to have been made for the business, but all of them 'envisage a reduced restaurant estate'.
The complete list of eateries shutting up shop has now been made public tonight by the Manchester Evening News.
Explaining the painful decision, James Spragg, CEO of Casual Dining Group, said: “After reviewing all our options with advisors, it became clear that we needed to take this action in order to protect the business and secure the best possible future for Casual Dining Group as we look to conclude a potential sale.
"We are acutely aware of our duty to all employees and recognise that this is an incredibly difficult time for them.
"Working alongside the administrators we will do everything we can to support them through this process with a view to preserving as much employment as we are able to.”
