Top earners have £84,000 in Isa savings | Money - The Times

Those earning salaries of £150,000 or more typically have £84,530 stashed in Isas, while savers earning less than £5,000 a year have just over £13,000, according to HM Revenue & Customs.

The annual limit on the tax-free savings and investing accounts has been £20,000 since 2017 across cash, stocks and shares and innovative finance Isas, which cover crowdfunding and peer-to-peer investments. Isa earnings are protected from tax, including savings interest, capital investment gains and dividend income.

There is only a small difference in Isa wealth between low earners and those who would be considered well-off but are not the highest earners, according to the HMRC data for the year to April 2018. Savers earning £10,000-£19,999 have an average of just over £23,000 in their Isa,
