James Murdoch has resigned from the board of News Corp — the media empire headed by his father, Rupert — citing “disagreements over certain editorial content” published by the company’s news outlets.
In a resignation letter dated yesterday, he said his decision was prompted by editorial disagreements and “certain other strategic decisions”.
According to documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the younger Mr Murdoch informed the company he was resigning with immediate effect.
The nature of the disagreements or the news outlets in question were not disclosed.
